Services for Individuals

Community Based Day Services (CBDS):

This program of supports has been designed to enable individuals to enrich their lives and enjoy a full range of community activities by providing opportunities for developing, enhancing, and maintaining competency in personal, social, and community activities. The program has been set up with five core fundamentals that each activity falls into.  The core fundamentals are: Employment/Volunteer, Health & Wellness, Education, Life Skills, and Social Growth.  Options that are given to individuals who participate in CBDS include: career exploration, community integration experiences to support fuller participation in community life, skills development and training, volunteer opportunities with local non-profits, health & fitness classes, socialization experiences, and support to enhance interpersonal skills as well as the pursuit of personal interests and hobbies. The goal for every participant in the program is to obtain employment with local businesses. The CBDS program gives participants the skills needed while preparing and supporting them through the process. Since its inception, the CBDS program has been building relationships in the community. The individuals have become total participants in what the Greater Springfield area has to offer to its residents and visitors.

Group Supported Employment

Production Teams

A work program comprised of a small group of individuals working at a company under the supervision of Work Opportunity Center, Inc. (WOC, Inc.)  The individuals are considered employees of WOC, Inc. and receive their pay and benefits from our agency. This work model allows individuals to work in integrated work settings in different industries with the support of WOC, Inc. staff.  Some work sites pay individuals on a piece rate basis, and some work sites at an hourly wage. These settings help build work skills that can be transferred to Supported Employment jobs.

Skills Development

Group Supported Employment also provides the opportunity to acquire skills in different industries and gain valuable work experience in the community. In addition, individuals who participate in this program gain confidence, self-esteem, the opportunity to meet and interact with other workers, and gain an understanding of different work cultures. These settings help build work skills that can be transferred to Supported Employment jobs.
